I'm a Fish!
I was looking at getting back into videography, but have no idea what a good entry level camera setup would be.
I had an Ikelite house and a digtal8 camcorder back in the day but I want something small and easy to travel with.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Cecil

A GoPro or similar action cam would be hard to beat for small size and budget.

Iphone + dive volk

I just googled it, looks interesting.
Though I am a little worried about bricking a $1k phone if it leaks.

If you're looking for Video only, and don't really into macro video. Action cam would serve you well for the purpose.
There are 3 brands that dominate action cam market, GoPro, DJI, and Insta360.

I'm using Insta360 Ace Pro, which is kind out outdated model at the moment since they release Ace Pro 2 already. The benefit of Insta360 Ace Pro - or even Ace Pro 2 - is that there's a function called 'Clarity Zoom'. This is kind of Digital Zoom that crop into about 50% center of the screen. It would help you when you want to shoot somethings that's not 'Wide Angle'. It also come in handy when you want to add a macro wet lens and just use the center of the frame. Insta360 software also handle some color correction quite nicely.

The whole unit in housing can fit on your palm. So it's answer your need for small system, unless you want to add video light.

I have video on Youtube that partly taken with Insta360 Ace Pro underwater from my trip in early August. Will post a link later tonight. (I cannot access YT from my work network)

Thanks, I would love to see it

2nd dive volk housing and your current phone. The ease of use sharing pictures and regular phone features make it hard to beat for casual photography. It mainly stays in the left pocket until I want to take a picture then quick out snap and back in pocket. Plus you can use your phone during deco to compose posts for scubaboard.

For reference on the last liveaboard to sicorro there were 2 gopros, 1 dji, 1 big D2 rig that was a pain in currents and FOUR divevolks all with different phones. This trip was unusual also in the large number of folks under 35.

Another path to take is SeaLife 3.0.

I chose it because I'd rather not risk my iphone, way too dependent upon it for work. Also, my goal isn't "perfect pictures", but rather to bring back decent pictures/video so that I can share my experience with my non-diving wife.

It's met those two requirements.

it s got super reability the advantage is that you don't have to play with sim card or download and stuff like that.

On the other hand could be used in case of emergency.

Be safe
