I've been mulling over purchasing an underwater housing for my Sony A7IV for a while now. I have the Sony 90mm f2.8 macro lens and it really is a great lens which I'm sure will take excellent photos / videos underwater. However, I am struggling to decide on a good housing. Recently, AOI came out with the new UH-A7IV housing which seems like a pretty good deal but there is virtually no content out there as far as videos or reviews on the quality / features of the housing. I think I found one video in Mandarin on YouTube?

If anyone has any experience with AOI housings in general or especially this housing in particular I would greatly appreciate any thoughts you have on it! I'm also open to hearing from anyone who has a housing they use for their own Sony camera (A7IV or similar.. A7SIII, FX3, etc..) and what their experience has been with it.

Since I am looking to shoot some video with this I was also looking into lights as well. What lumen light should I look into? It looks like AOI only has the AOI CLV-202 3000 lumen light available. Will I be able to hook different lights up to my housing or be stuck with AOI lights?

One thing I quickly found was finding a housing that has the ports to accommodate whatever lenses you want to use. I’d suggest call or email AOI or a vendor and tell them your setup and see what port options you have for it and for anticipated lenses. As far as the Sony FE 90mm 2.8 lens, they show having a focus gear and port available for it.

As for lights it has standard ball mounts so you can add whatever arms and lights/strobes you wish, along with whatever floats you want.

The AOI certainly looks interesting, but having a Sony A7SIII they don’t currently show a compatible model.

I have good experience with AOI housing for Olympus / OM systems cameras. I think their expansion into housings for Sony camera's is newer.
