I was just wondering what the standard thread used in crotch straps to trap the D ring is?

Is it basic nylon, or something special?

Typically 2-inch nylon webbing is what is used. Sometimes a more elastic material is used.

Are you looking to make your own harness?
I mean the thread that goes into the webbing to create a space for the D- ring to go into

Metal tri-glide?

You mean the stitching, then, right? I suspect that it is also nylon. I've sewn my own harnesses (to make "deluxe" harnesses) with thick, nylon thread. For a "nice" job, I've had a nearby shoe repair shop do the sewing. I plan on getting a manual heavy duty sewing machine in the future for making harnesses for my future dive center.

I have asked the gobbler to use her strongest nylon, if it's normally standard nylon that would be fine, then

I had a really stiff crotchstrap on my old BPW, which tore my wetsuit.

So I swapped it with a softer seatbelt webbing, and a metal serrated triglide is the best thing.

You set the d ring in it. And loop it.
