Does DiveRite only have one size for their BPs? I'm 6'1" and the BP fits me fine, but my wife is thinking of going the BP/W route, but we're not too sure it'll fit her as well - she's 5'3". Are we better going the DSS route, or does anyone have any suggestions? I've enjoyed my DR setup and would like to continue that route, but obviously fit is more important. Thanks- booth

Currently there is only one size BP

Tobin makes a nice short plate, and the workmanship is impeccable.

All the best, James

Let your wife dive your plate and see if it fits?

That would mean I would have to share! Actually that's probably what we'll end up doing this weekend and if not, we'll most likely give Tobin a call. Saw his stuff at the Dive Show and we were very impressed.

Our group of divers mostly dive the DiveRite BP/W. We have one little gal that is 5'1" diving BP/W and two gals at 5'4". The shorty does have the Transplate harness the other two ladies use the one piece webbing (Hogarthian).

Let us know how her test dive goes.

Edit
Oops! I already said that. Sorry.

Echo that! I believe he makes a short, medium and long plate in SS and AL. And in several different thicknesses. I guess he's back in business huh?

I have been diving a bp for a couple of years now. I have Halcyon and Dive Rite plates and was happy with their fit. I recently ordered a heavier plate from Fred and decided to try the short version (I am 5'4"). It fits so much better that I will eventually replace all of my bps (it is surprising how many you can end up with) with a short version. I think that all of the short folks who say a standard plate fits just fine haven't tried a short one. The straps on a one piece harness hit me in much more comfortable places.

I would also add that Fred's plate was very reasonably priced and arrived in less than a week after I placed my order. His workmanship is excellent and it took me less than 20 minutes to "finish" it myself.
