This is not the best pic, but I cannot seem to figure out which one it is? Probably6-8 inches long.

That was the closest I could get, but I did not see the dorsal fin in the pic that the fish in my book has, unless it is pinned down on his spine?
Fish raise and lower their dorsal fins. Ryan is correct, Blackbar Soldierfish. It's very common.

Yep, and it is a member of the squirrelfishes (Holocentridae)
