Don't use this application unless you know what you are doing!!! You can seriously mess up your machine if you remove the wrong items! Be VERY CAREFULL what you remove with Hijack This!!!

I am also getting popups that say my computer is affected with spyware. It has also changed my startup page and no matter what I do I can't reset it permanently. I've run spybot and earthlink's spykiller. I also have a Norten Symantec firewall and virus detector. I've run the virus scan online and off my compter as well as a security scan and the results were negative for virus and trojan horses. I'll try the above spykillers, but would appreciate any other advice.

You might try starting your computer in "Safe Mode" and running Adaware. Some are easier to remove when they are not running on your machine.
You also need to remove the browser plug-ins from internet explorer and un-install any spyware programs along with runnig removal tools. If you have programs like Save now, New.net, Bonzi Buddy, Xupiter, Kazaa (not Kazaa lite,) there are several others as well. P.M. me and I can help too.

It's an ongoing battle at work up here as well. Can't keep the garbage off the student machines, and administration won't let me nail one of the guilty ones up as a warning to the rest. Just keep thinking of it as job security... :D

Zero problems on the home network. Linux based firewall/router, up-to-date virus scanner, and the Proxomitron (which is sadly starting to get dated.) Always been a believer in the ounce of prevention theory.

Good luck on the cleanup.

Oh, and as well as all the other good advice, make sure you're viewing hidden files and folders as well when cleaning up. Some of this stuff installs hidden. Some of it also gets into XP's System Restore, which can require shutting it off to clean, then re-enabling it.

Next time ya have some extra $ laying around toss it my direction! :)

Sure thing Colin, right after those nice men from the govt stop by to take their share of it :eyebrow:

Now I have the deliema (did I spell that right??) of buying a new BC (Mares Journey) or a new home entertainment system, or upgrade to the AMD 64 processor, or a new set of golf clubs.

So many toys, so little money!!
