As I had stated in post # 2 above, the weekend of the 24th seems a better choice as it is a neap tide (Low Tidal change) compared with the weekend of the 17th. This means people diving outside of premium tide times will just suffer lower viz and not a stroke from swimming against a tidal current. The tides have a fairly big swing on the 17th which means watching the tides a bit closer than is necessary on the 24th. But I like the times better on the 17th. All in all my vote would be the 24th based on the tides from ALL the local area shore dive spots.

I stand corrected. I took the initiative since it hadn't been done at the end of last Spring Spring-Fest.

Snepdiver, my apologies.

Since when did this become "krakenfest"? One person should not set the dates in stone

Snepdiver is the originator of this event

It should be a group decision and not a SB dictator chosen date

:shakeshead:

My edit tab is gone or I would add the poll. But reading through here looks like most people agree or do not care which weekend. All can not be pleased all the time which is why I have missed a few events in the past. It sucks. But thats life.

One of the most important concerns from my viewpoint is the tides and the 24th is better. In the past tides were what determined a lot of our gatherings near the coast because so many of us love shore diving.

Lets set it for the 24th.

I will try to get the thread started tonight unless someone else would like to, Which I would not mind. I have a b-day party to go to. "Not mine".

Just keep it going in this thread as people already are subscribed to it. That way it all stays together. :D

When you get time, just PM a moderator the changes you want to the opening post with the dates and new thread title. like "Springfest 2009 - April 23-25 @ Vortex/etc." and the body you want. They can edit it in.

I never found neaptides to be the best thing for shore diving passes anyway. I've always liked more clear water influx from a strong hightide myself. For people wanting best possible visibility, that should be a priority.

That being said, I'll be diving freshwater during the Spring-Springfest event anyway :) So it really doesn't matter to me.

...Hey Squid, how's the ankle?
Carolyn:shark2:
It's doing a hell of alot better, NOW that I'm back at WORK! :shakehead:
Thanks for asking. Appreciate it!
...Last time I saw that ankle it was more like a knee.
:rofl3: :rofl3: I hear Ya! Like I was telling L4S, it looks ALMOST normal. Swelling is minimal, and the bruising has decreased. I'm walking much better. I went to the gym last night and started rehabbing it in the pool. I think I could actually dive now.

Actually it was Snepdiver and Lives4Sharks that got Spring Spring-Fest going.

Let us not forget the "Shark Lady".

Aww shucks. I am just happy to hang with y'all and help where I can. The t-shirt designs are currently in the works! :)
