I put a 1.5 lb ankle weight on my fins and it pulled both fins down with ease so I fear that spring straps will be to heavy. I have to wear 1.5 lb ankle weights to help compensate for the buoyant fins and my 7mm boots. I dont like wearing weights but if I lose a fin than at least I will be able to find it again if is yellow and floats. I have been there when several people have lost expensive fins to the abyss. I guess I will stick with regular straps unless someone knows of something I could do to counteract the negativity of the straps. Thanks

Loose a fin???......I wouldn't worry about it....Sounds to me like everything is set up to ditch the ankle weights & get the little wt you need from the new straps....In reality, I go the opposite ie I want my fins to be slightly neg bouyant..

from my experience spring straps do not due that much ultimately to mess with the buoyancy of fins. if you are really worried about it there is a thread on here that has directions and such to make your own spring straps. follow that and use nylon spacers and you should have a pair that will minimize the negative effect.

Sounds more like you need to loose the ankle weights! Most on here will call them a fix for a non existant problem. I currently dive dry, but when I am diving wet it is in 7mm booties, and I have no problem with floaty feet. Not even in my drysuit.

You could also cut the weights down to like .75 lbs or something.

The fins pictured are mine. The bungees work very well. I have a couple sets of spring straps but prefer the bungees. They're easier to take off in a hurry, such as when a big wave is about to pound me into the beach. :)
They last me about 100+ dives and cost about 25 cents to replace.
