Spring Fin Straps

I like 'em, wouldn't go back to rubber straps with buckles. The rubber straps and buckles are too finicky to take on and off, and they break too often. Springs, as long as they're sized right (!) work so well.

Although I've also heard good anecdotes about bungees or surgical tubing and could be tempted to try one of those setups. Maybe the best of both worlds?

To each their own. Too many different styles of diving, boots, fins, and feet for only one solution to be the "one true answer".

I've trashed 3 pairs of fins already and the breaks were always in the bodies of fins, never in the rubber straps and/or buckles. I have a collection of leftover straps and buckles as result.

D'oh...sorry about that. How about posting a picture of them?

I’m out of town on business, so can’t get a picture. I probably am going to have to buy the adjustable springs separately. The rubber is working fine for me currently.

I can't stand the straps that came with these fins. Fell down several times trying to get my fins on whilst on the dock. Switched to these and problem pretty much solved. These are Mares bungees and fit perfectly.

Spring fin straps, I changed to spring straps on my Mares Excite Pro fins , thought they were "the Bees knees", i.e. very good at first, after a few dives I am not so sure, now find the original straps better, on/off, comfort, weight, etc.
Anyone else find this?
I do carry a spare in my 'save a dive kit' though, seen too many break.

I've only ever worn OMS Slip Stream Black Monoprene fins with stainless spring straps, can't see wearing anything else. The monoprene allows the fin to be light, but still powerful.

I've dove pretty much around the world, they've been a constant companion.

Easy on/off, no buckles, no straps to cinch, no failures, ever!

The photo shows new OMS fins with small tubular webbing covering the springs, I remove this, allows for quick/easy inspection of the spring, and I also find the webbing tends to trap sand/debris.

I have the same fins but put a different type of spring strap with a soft heel pad and pull loop on mine. It's comfortable and pulls on quickly. Love the fins.
