This is a very subjective topic, so I'm expecting a variety of responses.

It's time to upgrade my fins. The ones I have are a 19 year old pair of Sea Quest kevlar fins. My LDS specializes in the Mares fins, but I'm open to suggestions. I've tried the Mares Raptor split fin and noticed an instant increase in my performance. It makes my old fins feel like boards. My only concern is that I travel and don't need the added weight of the split fins. I haven't had a chance to try the Mares Volo fins yet to see what they can do.

Has anybody had any experience with both types of fins? What was your experience?

I've used the Mares Volos for years as well as many other styles. I'm not a big "swim as fast as I can to the end" kinda guy so split fins never appealed to me. The Volos are light, powerful and can be used for many kick styles. A very good fin.
