Snorkels are good for snorkeling. For diving, they are nothing but a nuisance and an entanglement hazard. On top of that, they cause mask leaks and can interfere with gas donation, especially if you use a long hose.

I rest my case. You will find a counter arguement for everything here. Ultimately, it's whatever you feel happiest with, because you are the one wearing or not wearing it.
Nobody is god here, despite what qualifications they have or what they call themselves.
