Spiney Oysters: would you eat them?

I called Joe Pappy's Seafood and found a 'professional' there that is going to eat one this weekend. I'll let you know if he kills over! I may have a new book out of this!

Actually if you google Spiney Oysters you find that they are used for making jewelry. Cool stuff!

I have eaten Lions Paw Scallops and they are good. I would think these are good also.

the real question is: can you eat them RAW like an oyster?

I got a PM that said that they are good to eat. Mystery solved. I'll let you know after I get a bunch of them this weekend. Pictures to follow....

Just to bring everyone up to day...

They taste like scallops! Not a lot of meat, you would have to get a pile of them to make a meal but the white meat is good.

so how do you feel? Palpitations? sweating? If you are good for the next couple days then you have found someting new to enjoy from the sea.

I feel fine. I'm growing webbing between my toes but I'm sure that has nothing to do with eating the spiney.
