I’ve been searching online and can’t seem to figure out what to call the pieces that were used to mount the Aqualung squeeze lock knife to the mounting holes on the bcd. I got the screws but I can’t figure out what the other piece would be called out where to order them.

As for a description, they are plastic squares with a stainless nut molded inside. Not very thick 1/8” maybe? And maybe half inch square?

Anyone have an idea what they are called and where I can find them?

You may find it easier to figure out the threading and see if someone can 3d print a nut holder.

If your LDS can not get, take your screw down to West Marine, and fit with SS flat washers and Nyloc nuts.

I’m a big fan of nylocks in most applications, but there may not be clearance for them; it appears the originals slip inside the sheath and have to be thin enough to leave room for the knife. (Which suggests users must regularly check tightness, but that’s a different issue.)

Don’t know first-hand; just looking at pictures.

ETA: found a picture showing the underside of the nut side; the over molded plastic comes in pretty far and may have served as a nylock equivalent, reducing the chances of the screw loosening. Still looks kinda thin to substitute a full nylock.

Well this brought up some results but it looks like no one has them at all. Which would explain why the lds didn’t either.

As for the nylock nut, there’s no way to get a wrench in there to hold it still and properly tighten. The nuts don’t go inside the sheath they go where the leg/arm straps would go. So the opening for them is about the thickness of a strap.

I’m not sure if it is an option but maybe I can get a new sheath with mount nuts built in that’ll fit the knife.

MR Grinch,

Sent you a PM yesterday. I have a pair of the nuts that you are welcome to have. Please check your inbox and get back to me.

@Mr Grinch @rfwoodvt Do either of you have a set of calipers? This isn’t the first person looking for these and if one of you can measure them fairly precisely, there’s no shortage of folks who could print replacements for the next person.

(It really bugs me when ideas won't leave me alone. Maybe sketching this will satisfy the voices, at least until somebody sends actual dimensions.)

Those look pretty close and once I have one or if I can borrow one from the guy at the lds that has one, I’d be happy to take measurements. In the morning I can measure the slots in the sheath as well so that will give some dimension.
