Hi
I am thinking of coming down to dive a bit in the keys... How do these 2 wrecks compare?
Should I make time to do both?
has anyone been on these?

Anne:)

I prefer the Duane or the Eagle to the Grove. There's almost always a couple of nice sized Jewfish hanging around the Bush. Since you're coming from Canada, do all three. I think you'll enjoy them all. :tree: Bob

Hi
Thanks for the info...I have not heard of the EAGLE OR THE Duane , BUT I will check them out for sure , is October / November a good time ? How is the vis?
Anne:)

Viz in the Keys averages 50 ft year round. Diving is great in October, water starts getting a little chilly in November. The Duane is off Key Largo, having been sank in November, 1987. The Duane sits upright in 120 ft of water. The main deck is about 100 - 105 feet deep. The Eagle was put down on its starboard side on December 19, 1985 off Islamorada. Hurricane Georges broke the Eagle in half in 1999. Max depth on the Eagle is 115 feet.

The Duane is definitely worth diving. It's a 327' USCG cutter and it sits upright on the bottom in about 120' of water. Every time I've been out there, visibility has been excellent (100'+), but currents can be rather strong.

The Eagle is a 287' freighter. A hurricane in the late 90s actually broke it into two sections. It sits in about 110' of water. I've only dove Eagle once, and I remember the viz not being great that day, but there was plenty to keep a diver occupied.

Thanks for the info....sounds like I will have lots to do ...can't wait to get down ...
safe diving:)
