Anyone out there know of a good way to discourage arachnids from taking up residence in the cellar of my wee hoose?

I've heard that hedge apples deter them. Although I've never tested it.

Also moth balls keep snakes away.

I am not bothered by snakes. Spiders freak me out; too many legs.

Usually, when I begin screaming in a shrill voice, jumping up and down and flailing my arms, they tend to scurry away. Problem is, I don't know where they go nor when they expect to return.

:lol: I'll have to try that method.

And a bunch of divers are going to know the answer to this because.......:huh:

25 Years ago I lived in a small house next to an open field, I was often surprised by how few insects of any kind were in the house. I would only rarely see a spider inside the house, while they were quite pelntiful outside. One day I was sitting quietly watching television and a moderately sized lizard joined me on the couch. I saw the lizard again several times during my stay at that house, and I never had a problem with spiders.

Spider = Bad

Lizard = Good

Insects = lunch :D

Incourage a flock of bats to take up residence in the cellar of your house - they'll eat the spiders.
