When I first started slinging bottles I clipped my SPG to the left hip D ring and found it a PITA to get to and then clipping and unclipping it was another pain all together. I moved it to my left chest D ring and as at least one other person has said with it in this position I don't even have to unclip it to read it. I always make sure that the SPG bolt snap is to the inside of all the other snaps so it places the SPG as far in as possible which makes it easy to find.

I've recently started playing with a pon... stage (yeah stage!) and found that it was no more difficult than before to get at and re-clip my SPG to my left hip D ring.

I really think it's just a matter of what you get used to. :)
