I used to go to Cozumel regularly, and as my skills grew, I became regularly frustrated by my inability to get the dives I wanted. I would ask for the reefs I rarely dived, like the Devil's Throat at Punta Sur. Sometimes I could get that dive--when the operator had enough people going. I asked about the sites I had never dived, like Maracaibo, Barracuda, San Juan, and the Cathedral at Punta Sur. Those trips were always out of the question. One operator told me they could do those sites if they had enough interest to fill a boat. They apparently never could, and I suspect they never tried.

This November I will be taking divers on a different kind of trip to Cozumel, a trip where we will do any site we want. The goal is to put together a group of divers who want to do the more challenging sites. We can confer on our choices and tell the operator where we want to go. Not only will we go to any of those sites, we will do do on steel 120s, with plenty of bottom time, and we will be led by DMs who know the sites well. If the weather is good enough, we can even do the east side, which I doubt anyone reading this has ever dived.

If you or a spouse are not sure you are up for such a dive, no problem. There will always be options to do the more normal dives instead.
