We take a different approach. We pack all our gear in a Dive Caddy and take it all in as carry on. I can buy shorts, tshirts and flip flops at any destination. I do NOT care to deal with the nightmare of missing/broken dive gear 2,000 miles from home. The only piece of dive gear that gets checked is the knives.

A simple rolling duffle is the way to go without dive equipment logo's. No reason to advertise 'take me' to the airline employees. We have used Eagle Creek 36" ORV bags for our dive gear and with more than 40 trips worldwide the airlines have only been able to kill one bag and it was replaced under Eagle Creek's lifetime warranty.

I noticed that the Dive Caddy is out of stock at DiveCaddy.net. Does anyone have any info about this. Are they coming out with a new generation of their product? Are the behind in manufacturing their product? Or are they going out of business? I have a Dive Caddy gen 2 and I think it is amazing...

Received this from the folks at Dive Caddy:

...thanks for your inquiry, we are currently out of stock, will have more DC in by Fall. We are starting to review design for Gen3 as well. Right now we don't have an ETA, but looking at Fall. We'll keep your contact info and notify you as soon as DC are available.

I would just use regular luggage for the items you are checking. There is no need to advertise what you have inside.

If I checked my gear I agree. The logo's are not helpful. If I carry my gear it doesn't matter and the compression aspects of Dive Caddy really help transport my investment to the dive location...

Just used a Eagle Creek no matter what rolling duffle for a trip to Hawaii.
No problems at all.

We did bring our regs and computers with our carry on.

I have gotten my duffle bags at the thrift shop. I found a big wheeled duffle perfect for all my gear for $4 just before my last trip.

I tried using a nice duffle bag from LL Bean. Even though I rinsed my gear I still has salt water attack parts of the zipper and metal parts. Then I used a 9 pound rolling scuba bag. I was living on the edge with my bag weighing 49.9 pounds. I now use a 4 pound mesh back with wheels ($79). The weight of scuba gear adds up and I don't want to pay for a second bag. I pack my bag so my wet suit covers all the rest of my gear, all my personal items and clothing are placed in Ziplock bags inside my scuba bag. Regulator computer, and mask go in my carry on. I use a wheeled carry on and a backpack instead of purse. Clothing wise I pack light since I travel with divers and we don't need much stuff and don't dress up.

I went out and got a BIG dufflebag (it's not obvious that it has dive gear in it.... black with blue flames). I put most of my gear in that, and carry on my regulator set in a padded bag. Works great. I had to explain what the regulators were to one TSA guy, but once I did, he said "Cool, I'd LOVE to try that someday." . I referred him to the LDS. ;) Hope this helps.
