I do think this idea --that Liberals were not beat up enough as children, has merit.

Two short points:

1: I'm at least a 'liberal' by your standards, and let me tell you: You. don't. know. SH!T!!! about. my. childhood. Capeesh?
2: That's extremely provoking, but I guess you're just true to type, right? Or are you really that clueless?

Well, I suppose that very much depends on the definition of "enough", we would need to first agree on the purpose of beating, and on how we would measure success... for example, if the objective is to instill more radical political views, or a greater propensity to violence later in life, I think it has been proven to be quite effective

Great use of exaggeration .... and I absolutely agree with your point, that too much violence would destroy a child's capacity for empathy and humanist thought.
The "picture" I was using, was the very minor level of violence you would attribute to schoolyard bullying...and this really from the 1930's to the 1980's or so.....today, in some bad neighborhood school systems, this is more warlords and gangs, and there is nothing redeeming in this at all.

No, I probably wasn't beat up enough as a child...however, it wasn't from a lack of someone else not trying. Maybe that's why I don't feel the need to resort to firearms to protect myself. I don't even have an image in my mind of who you are, or what your life was or is like.
My imaging on the problem with the liberal thought of so many, was NOT meant to be hurtful to you --it was offered as a counterpoint to the liberal thinking that I have a concern could cause real harm to those on this board, that harbor the liberal views...that their failure to accept how evil some criminals are, is inherently dangerous--for the liberal.

That being said, it is my sincere hope that you and your family are never burglarized or threatened, that you live a happy life......and that your liberal thinking will never do more than offer counterpoints to some crazy internet arguments

If you knew my background, you would know I don't have concerns for my own safety--such as you suggest

On the other hand, I have huge concerns for the safety of many of the liberals on SB, and I am terrified FOR them, that should they ever suffer a home invasion, that it would go very badly for them.

I am a liberal. I do not recall ever being beat up as a child (unless you count losing a match in a tourney). I own more guns than shoes.
So, basically, this statement is completely incorrect, insulting, and offensive to anyone who might actually apply some thought to the conversation.

So, what's the downside? lack of quick reloads? Would keeping a pile of pole spears handy as a form of "speed loading" solve that?
