I think the W/A lens will block your internal camera strobe. You would probably only see the upper left corner of your image illuminated. However, looking at the INON page with their lens adapter base, they have a diffuser moved out to the mounting ring. That's telling me that they expect to use the internal flash. Perhaps this is only for macro lenses, because the W/A is awfully big. Is this covered in your instructions manual?

On the other hand, in very clear water, the W/A could be used without a strobe. You may end up using those pictures for some very satisfying B&W prints.

The big advantage of W/A is that you can get closer to your subject, resulting in less backscatter from debris in the water.

Have you thought of renting or borrowing a slave strobe?

Could there be a dealer for the INON strobe in Lembeh?

hey,

not sure if anyone is interested but Costco.com has the 350 on sale for $199. It comes out to 229 something with shipping for a brand new camera..no sending in rebates either. pretty cool,

FYI, when I read the Olympus Rebate Material (which is not being offered currently on this camera) it stated that purchases made ad Costo and Sam's club would not be honored for the rebate.

The other thing is not everyone is a member of a Costco or Sam's Club (or am I the only one). Either way I did pretty good, mine was $259 and with the $50 came out to $209. Excellent price.

However now you got me thinking I am considering gettig a few more 1GB memory cards for this camera, I wonder what they sell them for at Sam's. I work with someone who is a member.

gert7to3:
LarryC recommended xD H1Gb memory cards. The "H" meaning high speed. Regular cards are titled
xD M1Gb.

I Froogled: [xD H1Gb memory] and there are prices within a few $ of the slower "M" type cards. This apparently makes a big difference in write speeds. Important if you are shooting in RAW image mode.

My old rig and new rig:

Yes I know, I ordered them from Newegg, I was just saying I need to get a few more not find a source or type. Actually I ordered them last night. Also the H xD are the way to go, that is what I have been using. I needed more because I have no way ot off load my phots when I travel and since they are small they don't take up much space (which is a major consideration for me, there is only so much I can take on to the plane with me)

Hey Linda,

I have been worring about what to do myself once I start traveling and taking photos. What I think I finally settled on is to get an old labtop on ebay for around 200 and use it a storage vault for all my pics. I would just hate to be worring about leaving one of my h xd cards on a trip and losing the photos forever.

this way I don't have to carry as many cards, and have piece of mind that my stuff is backed up....assuming of course nothing happensto the labtop..=(

Well, like a few others here, I have put in an order for the SP-350 and PT-030 based on what people have been saying in this thread. My 5050 was good to me, but I wanted something newer and a little less bulky. I actually ended up getting more for my PT-015 on ebay than I paid for it brand new. Now I'm just waiting for the company I got everything from to get in their latest shipment of housings and hopefully I'll be ready to start playing with it. Thanks everybody for all of the good information here.

Hope you have better luck with yours than I had with mine ...

That is an excellent idea, and it has crossed my mind but if I went that route I would want something really small and wireless not much more then a keyboard and screen maybe 6x8 total size for easy portability. With all the other stuff I schlep on dive trips as carry on, I am not sure I can get away with much more...LOL.

I've been looking into storage drives. There was a previous thread, but I can't recall the name of the product right now. You can get 80g for about $350, and they essentially are a laptop hard drive with some sort of small cpu that allows you do download and view pictures, video, play music, etc. I've been debating whether to do that or go the laptop route. You can buy a brand new Compaq with a 40gb hard drive for something like $400, but then you have to carry it with you.
