A tiny little corner of my silca gel pack snuck under the O-ring. It was a slow leak but by the time I could get up it was already toast. Bummer...

Guys and gals,

Just a little info for those who are jsut getting started with the pictures. The first time I used my SP-350 and Olympus housing it had a small leak which I caught when I put it in the camera bucket on the boat. Rather than mess around with it I just didn't take it in the water.

I have been very particular about what I do when closing the housing now--usually in my room. However, most places have some rinse tank near the dive shop which is where I check out the housing prior to boarding the boat. I put it in and wait about 20 seconds then check it for water. I also watch for a small stream of bubbles.

If all is well, I then submerse it for a couple minutes and check again just for good measure. In two years I've had no other problems. So I've come to the conclusion that most floods are a result of operator error.

Just be careful with these things. There is no hurry.

I'm usually very careful but three boats a day for a couple months and you start to get complacent. I was running for a morning dive and didn't have the normal time to put in. No one to blame but myself but that's usually the case...

I hate to be a "vulture" but if you can't find a replacement and would like to unload your strobe, please shoot me a PM. Sorry for the mishap despite my attempt at capitalizing on it!

Regards...

I found if you cut a small strip on the sealed side off the stupid dessicants, it will slide completely into the opening under the camera
