Hello All:

I have spent hours looking at the Cayman threads here, Tripadvisor, etc and am still having a tough time deciding which place to stay for our honeymoon in November. I've read many glowing reviews of LCBR on here but not so much about SCC or Pirates, yet I think for our honeymoon I would like to splurge at one of these places. There aren't that many traveler pictures online so I'm having a tough time getting a feel for which is nicer in terms of the accommodation. It seems like both have a good dive op and SCC runs afternoon dives where Pirates does not. Does one offer a different balance of social vs. private? Can anyone provide specific information about their experience at either place or, even better, a comparison? Appreciate your time.

Gladys Howard, the Cordon Bleu-trained chef and owner of Pirate's Point, is known for her culinary acumen. Her reputation is well deserved. She is known to offer cooking classes or put on a wine and cheese tasting.

We stayed at SCC a couple of years ago. With only 12 units and a staff ratio of about 1:1 (even more), it was a fantastic experience. The "honeymoon" unit is set a bit further down the beach.

Half the folks were diving and half were fishing. The setting is very private and quiet.

I would recommend it as a great place for a honeymoon.

Good to know that there is room for privacy at Southern Cross - my fiancee and I both work in professions where we deal with the public a lot so sometimes on vacation I need a break. I like to have the option to socialize or just kick back with the future hubs alone. There are several reviews I read that say there is not a lot of privacy at Pirates - can anyone comment here? Also, I read I have to take a van to the boat to dive each day at Pirates - is that accurate?

Yes you have to take a van to the boat when you dive with Pirates. It is my understanding Pirates only does 2 morning dives, no afternoon dives.

SCross offers more opportunity for privacy than PPoint. I prefer it.

Thank you everyone for your input - we decided to stay at Southern Cross. Very excited to check out Little Cayman for the first time.

We were on LC in Dec. Stayed at Paradise Villas. We visited SCC and LCBC. We were very impressed with SCC and would love to stay sometime. LCBR was nice but SCC was a notch above. For a honeymoon or special occasion, I think you made a good decision. Beautiful, well maintained, quiet and private.
