Yeah, I didn't get that idea either. They're not claiming to have invented minimalist or "zero-buoyancy" diving; monkey diving is about putting as streamlined a rig as possible in shallow water with a scooter.

It looks like a ton of fun, especially in warmer waters with a thin/no wetsuit!
 
In a thin or no wetsuit situation, I would recommend some "undercarriage" protective gear if you are scootering though!!!
