Does anybody know if the Sony HD SR1 or HD SR5 camcorders have a setting that can switch between 30 and 24 frames per second? I know that Canon produces a digital HD camcorder that can, but does Sony?

The SR1 doesn't. From the camcorderinfo.com review:

The Sony HDR-SR1 records standard 60i video, and does not offer alternate scan rates such as 24p.

Right now, the Canon HV20 is the only consumer level camcorder that offers 24 frames progressive mode, Sony does not currently offer one. I have one for topside video stuff, fantastic camcorder (best of the consumer HD camcorder so far IMHO), but does not have a Lanc connection.
