Pretty sure it came from
The rebreather thread where he also stated he wants to say he went the deepest on a dive boat.
It may have come from bicycle pump pony bottle
Thread though….
I never said I want to say it. I said I want to know I have been the deepest on the boat! Also to be fair I figured the “🤣” in that post would show it was more of a joke.

Where did 500 ft come from? The solo classes do not train for that.
I made the mistake of posting my end goal of hitting 500 feet when asking about a CCR. Right now I do solo diving a lot but would like to do a class on it as I find I can always improve on skills and knowledge.

I don't know any instructors in those states, but honestly if you are willing to go from MT to OK or TX, why not just go to SE Florida and combine the trip with some good diving? That's what I did -- went with The Scuba Club in West Palm Beach, did my Solo class dives at the Blue Heron Bridge, then dove solo the rest of the week.

Although all of my other certs have been with PADI, I went with SDI because it actually says "Solo" on the card, not just "Self Reliant", which I've heard some dive ops don't regard the same (there's a thread on here discussing this topic). Used SDI online learning, and honestly most of the material it is not rocket science if you've been diving a good bit (as I see from one of your other posts) and generally take a mature approach to diving and risk assessment/avoidance (which I'm not sure of given your 300-500 feet statement -- nothing in a recreational Solo course will encourage that without proper tech training).
Lower populations of ppl and I can do it sooner. I plan to go to FL next year for ccr but I would like to do the solo class sooner.

Certainly, whatever works for you -- but I just booked my solo class about a week in advance and for my dives it was just me and the instructor. Happy to PM with you if you end up considering going that route and have questions.

In 1967, Michigan governor George Romney clarified, “I didn't say, ‘I didn't say it.’ I said, ‘I didn't say, “I said it.”’”

Would like some recommendations on a solo instructor. Ideal instructor would be more central USA such as MT,AZ,CO,ND,SD,ID,OK,TX and such!
Not sure where you are in MT. Check with Shane in Billings with US Water Rescue. I’ve worked with him and can say he is very competent and worth dealing with. He also has a strong tech and psd background along with experience diving in MT.

The Solo ticket is irrelevant since no one is going to police the dive. Stay at recreational depths.
