I began diving in Southern California in August of 1969.

Currently I don't dive much in South California. I live there but I travel one week of each month to Miami, FL on business. I do most of my diving in the Florida Keys.

I do miss the Pacific Ocean.

.....teaching....and the conditions where typical for a mainland shore dive....viz poor, but I REALLY didn't like seeing all the brown frothy stuff floating on the surface....ugh.

Decided to take today off and will be headed to the show in LB next weekend....how many folks are going?


DrBill, how often do you see Mola Molas over there? I saw my first about 2 months ago....at 100 fsw....it was a little guy by there standards....I thought they were only [mostly?] at the surface?

Went over to Catalina on the PacStar two weeks ago....tons o' dolphins on the way over...way cool....always wanted to stop and jump in with them!

Well, I'm sorry for those of you who were in the water that conditions weren't ideal, but feel better about missing out on them for myself. Hopefully things will clear up this week, though - next Sunday I'll be at Casino Point and hope conditions will be better.
I know what you mean about the dolphins, Otter. The last couple of trips out to Catalina I've been on have passed through them, and every time we go by, they amaze me to see them playing in the wake of the boat. Such amazing creatures - almost makes the fact that I'm seasick and therefore have to sit outside to avoid throwing up while everyone else sleeps in the bunks worthwhile.
