I usually go diving once a month. I am usually going off a dive boat so I get three dives in. I would love to dive more but havent mastered the art of beach diving or else I would be out every weekend.

I was certified in March this year and have over 50 dives so I am loving the sport and I am always looking foward to getting wet.

Ana - only way to master it (well, get competent at it), is to get out and do it, preferably with someone who knows what they are doing.

Two very good groups are www.southcoastdivers.com (Saturdays, Orange County) and www.sandeaters.org (Sundays, all over. mostly LA county).

From my experience, south coast divers will give you more beach diving tools. sandeaters is more of a "buddy up" group

I started beach diving with south coast divers and now feel very comfortable off the beach, with perhaps the best lesson learned is when NOT to dive. Sandeaters goes all over the place. South coast divers stays down in Laguna Beach. Plus, Sundays are for sleeping in

I rarely go down to Laguna to dive with Rich anymore, either becuase I am on a boat, or I have friends up here in LA now - we dive most every Wed., nite off the beach. And I learned a ton from Rich, -- Happily, have more than 100 beach dives and haven't been rolled.... yet :)
