I have a pair of Sherwood/Ashai HP120's that went in for their visual. Both had been inspected and O2 cleaned by the same shop one year ago. Both tanks have always been filled at the same time, always with the same gas, all shops that did the fills do partial blending (grade E gas) and neither tank was allowed to go empty.

Report on the inspection is one is shiny clean, one has rust spots (and needs to be blasted).

How come?

Dried by humans, for humans?

One had a wet valve or whip when filled?

Fact that both tanks had visual at the same time does not mean they were open the same amount of time. I have been in shops and seen a tank open for a visual sitting around waiting to be finished while shop took care of something else. Maybe one was quick and done on a dry day, the other slow and done on a humid day. Just a wild guess.

Yup, probably got a splash in a valve and it got blasted into the cylinder. Had that happen.

Two steel cylinders go into a bar ask for a dry fill. They get pumped and come out tanked. Next thing ya know they are rolling in the gutter blowing bubbles with nitrox.

One could have had a tiny bit of debris at the bottom, which in turn can attract any moisture and hold it around the speck of debris longer than a tank which has no debris causing a spot.
One tank could have also had a minute amount of rust beginning, which at the last inspection was not noticable, but after a year the rust "bloomed" and grew.

Blasted?
Or tumbled?
I had same issue 2 years ago.
$20 gone for the spin.
