At Casino Point on Saturday...

here's a link to my post to RSD, Garibaldi Fishing

Granted, the guy obviously didn't know the rules, but this was happening at the East End of the park, just behind the flag pole before the shore turns southward (note, but not over "on the rocks", but right where the stone wall ends.)

It was amazing that no one but me took notice of this.

A garibaldi flopping on the end of a fishing line? In a marine preserve? And BOTH the fisherman and the snorkeller are clueless?

Kinda wish I had ben in the water and saw his hook. Woulda given him something to fight

don't know whether to laugh or cry, visualizing this. It's sooooo wrong! What caught your eye? The bright flash of orange? Great pix, BTW.

comment on the pix. Really lovely composition on the wide angle shot of the Gorgonians. Makes me want to go dive Casino Pt. Viz is looking really good.

Had heard talk of this but didn't see it myself. Should have called the authorities using the phone at the fill station. On second thought, what would they have done about it.

After I yelled at the guy, he left, and just went over the other side of the rocks to fish in the harbor

ChrisM once bubbled...

Which is also prohibited, isn't it?

Probably, but at that point I figured (a) he wasn't fishing in the marine preserve; and (b) the harbormaster and lifeguard boats are moored right by there, so hopefully he'd just get busted by them.

I assume the restrictions on fishing in the harbor are for a different reason than those in the park

Maybe I should have kept at him, but I didn't
