I highly recommend you take your gear like the others have suggested. There is nothing worse than having to worry about the gear. I did a discover scuba class at Riviera Maya at a five star PADI facility and my instructor was excellent. My dive buddy did a cenote dive with them as well and enjoyed it. My dive buddy takes his gear with him all of the time. You want to be able to relax and enjoy yourself rather than be worrying about your gear - so, take it and don't worry, be happy!
 
OH yeah I forgot about this thread, Yeah I totally took my gear with me, I carryed my regulators, divecomputer and masks with me, and checked my fins, and BC And everything came through great NP and it was awsome diving in Mexico with my own gear.

Take it with you, i go there all the time, never had a problem
