do any of you guys dive similar suits?
also i'm looking to buy a couple steel tanks so if any of you are upgrading, and have a pair, let me know

Are you getting a custom fit?

For $2,000 you should be able get a top of the line custom fit suit from DUI or Diving Concepts.

Also, it looks like the underwear is just fleece. That won't cut it when diving those great lakes in sub-40 degree temps.

Look - its Joe Dirt! err Delt!

Check our Dan's Dive Shop up in Canada. I got a custom $2800 DUI for ~ $1800. so if you can get a stock size suit /w underwear should be around $1500 easily. Better yet - for the drysuit underwear - contact Bob3 on here for a good deal on Viking Thinsulate...

yeah, i'm still here, just a bit of a hiatus. i'm trying to be the good kid and use my local dive shop and they do all their whites. they have a ton of suits, but i'm still at a bit of a loss as to what to get. i know that i want to do wreck diving at the straits and tobormoray(sp) so not entirley suree of what to do.

i was under the assumption that keeping warm in general in a dry suit came from the underware, so now i guess i have to research more

I'm going with everyone else.

If your spending that sort of money, I'd go with a TLS350, supporting your local dive shop is all well and good, but at that sort of price you need to make sure you make the right choice.

Now for the million dollar question........Have you seen the movie?

I would shop around a little bit for some better pricing. If you know that you will fit a stock size you may find a good deal here on the board on a slightly used suit. You will want to make sure that you have enough cash left to attend Meet and Greet III this spring. Please see other posts on this subject matter. We were a little worried that you may have moved away to Silver Town.

nah, not yet. i'll have to go to ZZ this week and try on a few to see what i think. it appears that i should be able to fit a stock suit other then the boots ( i wear 14s or 39european)

I am planning a move to chicago somtime in the next year, but all that means is netmage will have a driving companion

mitten, what brand is your suit?

Andy's DS2 just like our esteemed leader Diverbrian. I was fortunate to find another short, stocky, bald guy who was no longer in need of the suit. After using the suit a couple of times I learned how to wrestle myself into it with out a lot of additional grief.

Dan's Dive Shop? Would that be DiveTech in Mallorytown?

Actually, I was looking at the DUI website and that is what sold me on my Andy's. The Andy's was fair amout of money, but the suit is set up the way that I want it and is still cheaper than the prices that DUI lists. As I have said before though, your mileage may vary on the pricing. I work with an Andy's dealer so I do get a slight break.

Joe,

As to the undies, if you plan to dive Toby (the home of cold water :) ), I would recommend that you invest in good thick drysuit undies. You will find out why at the Meet and Greet if one of us take you out by the tubes. The spring feeds in there and the water is a "brisk" temp all year around. If your undies aren't warm enough, you will know! I personally recommend thinsulate.
