so if you live in temple tx where would you go to test out new equipment...... other than my closed community pool that is....
i'm thinking of making the drive to cssp Saturday, hey do they make your run a flag?

want to refresh, weight/trim and balance out a new oms featherweight travel bc and run practice drills with it. but dealing with a flag too is a pain when trying to trim out a new rig...

I can't speak intelligently about the Temple area, but as to your question concerning CSSP: It is a scuba park only, no dive flag required. There are 5-6 training platforms marked with buoys. Other items marked with buoys: a boat (two actually if you follow the line between them, but only one is marked. An airplane, the "deep" silo, Cisco the shark. Other non marked items: a sailboat, coffin, stone alligator, underwater mine, bomb....am I missing anything anyone?

Clear Spring Scuba Park is "clearly" different

CSSP, Athens Scuba Park, Canyon Lake and the Comal River are all within reach of Temple. Lake Travis also has a scuba area but it the water level has been very low.

What is wrong with Belton or Stillhouse? Yes, you should have a flag - so take one with you and tie it off while you work on your new gear configuration.

I dive Stillhouse often if you want to go let me know. I would recommend you go to Blue Dolphin Dive Center in Temple. The owners name is Dave. They have a 12 foot pool that a buddy and I use every once and a while. Give him a call.

i'm stopping off at blue dolphin tomorrow during lunch, want to drop off my vacation reg for service join the dive club and see what he charges for boltsnaps. i think ill make the drive to cssp whats the temp like do you think a 2 peace 3mm good enough?

This past Saturday at CSSP, we had mid 60's on the surface with a definite thermocline between 13-15'. It dropped to high 50's in that first thermocline and kept dropping from there. My lowest reading was 54F at 44'. As warm as the weather will be this week, it might reach 70 on the surface, but the thermocline will still be there. If you want to hang out above 15' it might be bearable. That said, Athens is opening this weekend. They are reporting a water temp of 65...again a little harsh for a 3mm unless you are the type that can handle it. :)

i used to dive RI in Nov in a 7mm farmer john and shorty. 14mm at the core. but those days are past. cold don't bother me much I've dived the 3mm in brownstone park back in CT (thermo was 35 cold as heck but bearable with hood and gloves. ill bring the 7mm farmer if the 3mm farmer and 3mm shorty aren't warm enough for me. should be good for 50's high 40's np.)

i dropped off my scubapro mk16 for a full overhaul, they dont stock parts for em so they need to send it out . should get it back in 2 or 3 weeks. my cousin had my 80's topped off last year before the hydro ran out so ill use those and rent a tank local if i want a 3rd dive.

but i really have to rework all my weight and check my trim anyway. due to a massive wake-up call about 18 months ago when a gallows i was on had a beam break and i went thru the trap door 10-12 feet to the ground. i bruised my ribs on the way down (bounced off a beam) and the end of a the metal latch tried its best (to get thru a tactical vest, hydro pack, and chain mail (Halloween air-soft game)) and reach my spine, lucky for me it didn't and only messed me up for a week or two. all in all i realized i had to get back in shape. so i started a quit smoking, (done) 3500 calorie high protein low fat diet, 5 hours of cardio a week and 5 hours of weight training a week program. ive lost 55lbs since moving to TX 36lbs of that was lost since October over 3% body fat lost, gained about 8 lbs of muscle. went from benching 80lbs to 125lbs squat's 260, jogging 2 to 3 miles 4 days a week full Push Pull Legs and Abs program) i feel great and i finely don't have to struggle to get into my wet suits..... but it has probably messed with my known values so i get to figure everything out again.... personally i think the effort is worth it..... how far from the water is the parking at cssp.

oh reason i stopped diving still house is the stairs to drag my doubles to the dive shop so Edwin could fill them. then again a year ago i could hardly bench 80 never mind dead lift 150
