Hi everyone
Islamorada is so beautiful. My first 2 dives went great. The next day it was so rough i got seasick and you know the rest. I coudn't finish my last 2 dives. The other divemaster on board threw up also. under water, so i didnt feel so bad. I wasnt able to finish my qualification though as we were leaving Fla.so i will have to do my last 2 dives in the quarry in May. In the LI sound , where we live, there is so much wake, i didn't even think about getting sick as i never got sick before . I can't wait to get fully certified. Anyway, i had a blast on my first 2 dives. :dazzler1:

take a wander around your local pharmacy, ask them if they have kwells, i was given these when i did my rescue diver course, as i got seasick on one of the dives, take 1, 20 mins before the boat trip, no more problem
i never used to get sea sick, on another note throwing up underwater, look at it as a way of feeding the fish, i threw up on a dive before i knew about kwells, all of a sudden i had a cloud of fish in front of me feeding, for sure i saw more fish on that dive than everyone else put together ;)
also don't feel bad because you get sea sick, it's no big deal
;)
good luck with your quarry dives and i hope you continue to enjoy your diving

Important scuba lesson -- know when to say, "No!" (Experienced divers upchucking is a pretty good clue.)
Good luck on finishing your certification. Is there a local community college where you can keep your scuba skills up-to-date (with your instructor's help, of course.) May is so far away!

One word for you... BONININE...anti-vert! It works wonders. I am one of those people (Nurse) who has to been first in last out on a boat due to seasickness. I've not had a problem since taking Antivert! It is non drowsy and does not affect my diving at all... Best of Luck!

Congratulations on the progress! :cheering:

Yeah, sea sickness is always a risk, and I did notice the winds were up there this weekend. I'm okay while the boat is moving, but if we stay at the mooring line very long with waves rocking us - that's when I start to go.

Hope your's is not a frequent thing. I've known a couple of 500+ divers who still get it, but they just keep on going. Whatever it takes to get in the water safely, then keep it save. Boarding in high waves can be dangerous, but I guess you learned that, too!

Thanks you guys, good advise. I plan on practicing with an instructor in their pool before May. It seems like an eternity. I bought a BC and a wet suite down there before going home.

Oh, it's BONINE, but that was close enough to find it in a pharmacy. Here's a link on what it is and does: http://www.medicinenet.com/meclizine/article.htm
