Forgive my yankee ignorance, but what is a dry slope?
See post #3, it looks kind of like this, it allows you to ski all year without waiting for snow, however these arent the best examples of what the slopes are like, they are the only pics i can find online without an extensive search  See the braided/woven rope like stuff?

Do you just point your skis down and go, or can you actually carve a turn on the stuff?

no jonnythan- you can't really carve very well- I mean you CAN kinda, but its not like the real thing. And it hurts more than North Carolina blown snow which has been packed and refrozen for four weeks with a layer of ice or two !!!!
I was dragged back to this memory of burns on my arms which were akin to carpet burns at the very dry slope in Plymouth mentioned by simbrooks. It almost put me off boarding for life !!!

Your skis dig into the rope like stuff, you can turn, even if not too aggressively, its not hard to learn on, but its not as soft as snow - it available when the regular snow slopes arent though

Ah come on, its better than not skiing at all, or losing your skills a bit between the white stuff dropping  You just wear gloves and a long sleeved sweater and jeans and you are good to go - you much just rug burn easily

Good thing about it is it means when you DO get to the white stuff, your skills are much better! like diving in dark water all your life then going to the tropics!!

Was there again last night- saw some dude dislocate his pinky (ow!)
