Another sighting today, this time off FLL beach - a little east of Hugh Taylor

Only took 15 years between sightings. Rara avis indeed!
 
Right! My buddy posted this back in 2016. He mounts on the side but rarely sees them come through.

...there's about 20 reportedly caught a year but I would imagine there are several more caught and sold commercially going unnoticed. So far this is the second one I've heard of the season. How they got here is after the eggs hatched on a Brazilian lobster they float in the currents until they find a grass bed or something suitable to grow....

That's a nice size for them since most are very small. Congrats!

PS for other readers, these types of lobsters are not classified as spiny and are therefore "unregulated" and can be legally caught/taken anytime of year so long as there are no eggs.
