The Dept. of State and Homeland Security has announced new proposed regulations that will require all U.S. citizens to have passports for travel to the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America starting December 31, 2005. This is part of The WESTERN HEMISPHERE TRAVEL INITIATIVE that will phase in a series of passport reforms thru 2008 that will also require Canadians and citizens of Mexico to also have additional documents before they can visit the U.S. ......... So if you have been going to your favorite diving spot with only your birth certificate and drivers lic. next summer you may need to get that passport before you leave the country.
