I carry a bag with attached spool in the right pocket ...

I carry an additional bag on the bottom of my BP. I carry an extra spool in
the left pocket of dry suit and I carry a reel clipped to one of these...

Call me odd, but I don't tie my lift bag to either a reel or spool. I tie it to whatever it is that I'm trying to lift, frequently things like anchors or boat parts.

Well that is odd. Using a lift bag to lift an object.
I think too many just grab the object and inflate their drysuit or BCD.
YOU might be a trend-setter :D
 
I use a spool for shallow shoots and a reel for deep ones...
