Out of curiosity, how do you manage diving with small tanks, lile HP80 (24inch tall) and BP/W, where often the wing (from 25 and above lbs of lift) are taller than 24inches ?

For warm water, I'd assume it wouldnt be a problem with a small wing, but otherwise, having a wing longer than the tank may not be convenient surface wise (on the boat, it gets damaged) and maybe under water as well.

Now, there are quite a few advantages for some people of getting a small tank (weight being a major one), so I'm curious how it is done with a BP/W.

Thanks

Really short cylinders (e.g. AL63s, HP80s) can be a real pain with certain wings. You run a very real risk of pinching the wing along it's lower edge when you place the rig down (e.g. sitting). I've avoided this by avoiding such short cylinders. Usually, I want more gas anyway, but in cases where weight matters and gas isn't a priority (i.e. very shallow dives), we'll take some old school LP72s (which aren't super short; just skinny). FWIW, a HP100 (also not super short) is only 5# more than a HP80 or AL63 (the latter which has inherent buoyancy characteristics that often results in needing to add further weight anyway).

All of my single tanks wings are quite a bit shorter than an AL63, which is the shortest tank I have.
