I am a newb.
I recently purchase a Aqualung Legend regulator. Starting with my first dive, I notices a (very) slow leak from the 2nd stage. I tried to get it to stop by pushing it (mouthpiece down) into the water, I couldnt get it to stop and did the dive anyway, with other problems. I have dived with it several times since and it seems like it still occurs (more often than not) but that I can get it to stop for periods of time. Is this something to worry about, or should I just wait until it gets worse to have it serviced?

I suspect that the second stage soft seat has taken a set. If you bought it from an LDS, take it back to the shop.

If you bought it from another source, (internet, etc,), or for some reason cannot get it to a shop, you could try this:
If you have the second stage with an adjusting knob, try to dial out the leak. If you cannot dial out the leak, probably the adjustment range is improperly set, and should go to a competent tech to have this adjustment done.
If you have the second stage without the adjustment knob, (and it is an emergency situation) you will find a black cap on the end opposite the hose inlet. If you CAREFULLY pry out this cap, you will see an allen screw head beneath. If you back out on this screw, you will notice the leak getting worse. Turn in slowly until just past the point where the leak stops, and cycle the purge several times to check. This should solve your problem until you can get it in for service.

Of course, it might be something else entirely, but this is problem is pretty common. Since it is a new reg, I would take it to a competent Aqua Lung tech if at all possible.

your intermediate pressure could be set high, as has been said take it to the shop..they should fix it for free, providing you bought it there..

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been reluctant to take it back to the store (sport chalet) that I bought it from because I have heard that they have a central service center and that it will take a couple weeks to get back from service (although I havent confirmed this-so it is just speculation at this point) and can't give up the diving for that long.

well then take it to another shop, and pay them to have a look at it..though even my lds has a week turnaround for services, they can fix small problems like this while you wait

If you bought this from a good LDS they should give you a loaner.... the leak is just due to poor adjustment and should be fairly quick to fix and return, goodluck

Since you bought it new you are entitled to have a new, properly adjusted, ready to go regulator. The fact that it was Sport Chalet makes no difference. Take it back to them and ask politely that they fix it as soon as possible. The repair you most likely need is simple and should be able to be made while you wait. About the only reason I can think of why you would not have it fixed right then and there is if the person behind the counter is completely clueless, you might be well served by calling ahead of time to make sure that when you come in the right person is there.

Frankly, when they sell a new regulator they should check for just this problem and make the small adjustment, if needed, before you even take posession. It is not entirely uncommon however for you to get a dive or two before this problem comes to light, so don't feel like you got a lemon. Just ask politely for them to fix it quickly.

Walk into the store and demand a replacement regulator.

Let them send it back for service. You were given an item that already had a defect.

Tell them clearly that if you you're walking out with either a new regulator or your money back, which you will use to buy a regulator elsewhere.

They will give you a new one.
