ok so i just tried soft scrub, it was ok didnt really get the writing any lighter than it was, baking soda was about the same as the soft scrub. So now im gonna try scrubbing bubbles

what seems to be rather effective for me is those dishwashing sponges which are mostly yellow but have an abrasive green underside (do you know the one i mean (or have you all got dishwashers!)) anyway a dab of soap and the writing comes straight off. best thing i've come across anyway.

well after extensive "testing" toothpaste and the dish washing sponge seem to work the best. and i get a nice minty fresh scent too.
thanks everyone,
Drew

Of course for what they cost you could purchase a couple of them. Keep them in the dive bag and as you do multiple dives grab a new slate and then clean them all at the end of the trip.

Soft scrub was the best thing I found that worked. Wonder why it didn't work for you?

I have gotten my best results with an eraser or toothpaste. Also when the little pencil fell apart in the water, I replaced it with a carpenter's pencil from Home Depot. It cost 38cents and the lead doesn't break.

Go to the store and get Mr Clean Magic Eraser - they will clean your slate like new. I keep mine in a zip lock bag in my BC pocket and even use it under water.
