Skanky LDS behaviour...

nice post guys, and fair points of view...
like i said, i still got them because a £ off is a £ off at the end of the day,
but on the walk home the gears started to grind...

I very new to diving just finished my OW last weekend and was in the market for some tanks. Stop by my Local LDS and shot the bull for about 2 hours picking my instructors mind, drank their coffee and bought two new Sherwood tanks AL80's with my first 1 yearly inspection and first fill free for 135.00 each.

Last week I purchased:

Gensis Tropic BC - 349.00
Sherwood Oasis - 325.00
Gemini Alt Air - 150.00
Sherwood Wisdom II With Compass and Quick Disconnect 649.00
Oneill 2 pc Farmer John Suite - 169.00
Boots - Free
Dive Bag Free

Plus my sales person/instructor brought me to the pool for hour of private instruction on how to use the gear properly.

Then my instructor invited me to for two dive trips he is making next month and all I have to do is pay my own way other than that there is no additional cost to me. Then the shop owner invited me go to Mexico with them drift diving in Feb.

I will always support my local LDS because I want them to be there when I need them.

Sounds like you got great service and very competitive prices.

Up here in the frozen tundra (commonly referred to as Canada) we suffer an extreme case of price envy. My LDS can't even come close to US pricing. When you live 45 minutes from the border it's very tempting to do a little cross-border shopping especially when the LDS closest to me doesn't seem terribly interested in my business (there's another not too far away that I want to check out).

I run a small business and have small businesses as clients, I have a strong desire to support local businesses but I also want to keep some $$ so I can afford to use the gear I buy.
