Hi

I'm moving to singapore in a couple of weeks and am contemplating a large order with Leisure Pro so that I can get all my stuff shipped with my household items.

What are gear prices like in Singapore in relation to Leisure Pro? Should I just wait and get my stuff in Singapore?

thanks in advance for your help

The prices in singapore are cheaper than surrounding countries, but because you will be dealing with small local dive stores I doubt they will be cheaper than leisurepro.

I would certainly suggest buying gear that requires a good fit from local dive shops - wet suits, masks, etc. I've had good experiences with Richmond Dive Supplies in the concourse shopping mall - email or call them and ask. A search here will turn up the other dive shops in town.

Cheers,
Rohan.

yup, go to Concourse at Beach Road, Richimond, Waikiki, Oceanic etc are there.
If you are bigger or taller side in the US size. you should buy your wet suits in the US. (+ maybe booties) It's quite difficult to find one fits you in Sing. some of my friends are having tough time to find cloths long enough for them here. alternateively you can have it custome made at Acroman.

I use a 3 mm with long arms/legs year round for most dives in Thailand, Malaysia & Indonesia. I add a small warmer/neoprene tee-shirt thingy when diving a few areas with slightly colder waters (25-26C).

I picked up the suit from a shop in Singapore and it fits fine, but if you are large size or particularly tall you may be better off looking around in shops before you leave.

Note - the only time I bought a wetsuit on the internet it was a complete disaster: I strongly recommend buying a wetsuit from a shop, and trying on a range to find one with a perfect fit.

Cheers,
Rohan.

3mm in general, if you get cold easily + hooded vest, and if you get cold really easily 5mm.
Average water temp is 26- 29c. if you go to Philippines (PG) in Dec-Feb, 23 -25c. Bali (Nusa Penida) in Aug-Sep, 22-25c. Tioman, Sipadan, Manado, Similan, Maldives etc... 3mm is ok.
BTW, you should ask someone who is DM or Instructor to buy your gears in Sing. usually they get DM/Instructor price.

Got a new wetsuit (locally) and went for a new reg as well. I'll checkout the SG shops for the rest. I'm flying out next Sat. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet some of you above and below!

Season for East Coast of Malaysia is ending. so from now on till March. Enjoy Phuket, Philippines, and Maldives! :)
