I wonder, and please take this as constructive, do they think side mount is dangerous, or do they think you are dangerous? It might be easy to confuse the two when you're so close.
A bit of both I think.
Had they been able to get me to try backmount it would not have bee as big a problem.
Would have led to me repeating that each time I met a new one, probably - so I never gave them a chance and they took this badly most times.

What harassment, Pete? I've already stopped commeting on Razor talking BS about diving, now he is talking BS about Germany and I cannot comment on it either?
Don't you get that he is making stuff up?

@razor, I will stop commenting as soon as you stop lying.
Actually, I was referring to any instructor pulling his reg out of his mouth and popping him in the face with it.

But now that you brought it up, if your intent is to follow @Razorista where ever he posts just to expose him, then that's harassment too. We call it stalking. Dude, it's a huge forum. Find something better to do than to try and make life miserable for anyone.

... by calling attention to yourself.
I think that is one of the main problems I am facing with sidemount helmet and open water diving.
Nobody likes show-offs in diving.

I did not even see Bennos post before @NetDoc. But thank you very much!
Not many moderators realize that.

I made a lot of enemies in the last few years, in my opinion that is the normal cost of making a lot of new friends.

Some people who first heard of the 'comeback' sidemount was having in it's modern form have become rather successfull by now, but many others still dislike me because I never tried to be a sidemount instructor at 10 dives like everybody else does.

... if your intent is to follow @Razorista where ever he posts just to expose him,...
He said you cannot enter cave in Germany, cave certs a frowed upon and it's a 'German thing' to rip out people's reg. That's simply not true and now I've learned that it's not OK to point that out. Don't worry, Pete, I wont be doining any more 'exposing'. Most people probably get what the deal is anyway.

No @Bennno, i said that cave exploration is not done by certified cave divers in Germany.
And that is very true.
Try to get into Blautopf with a cave cert, that's no qualification at all for anything but mines in Germany.

Being a rec sidemounter I had a very hard time around here @NetDoc.

Most of the time the Razor, the black fins and mask, already mark me as belonging to the tec group at the dive site.
When those realize I am not tec at all, they do not expect a lot of me most of the time.
Than they see what sidemount can do on normal boring rec dives... some get jealous, some get interested, but sometimes I think all will dive sidemount in a few years ;)

Even most of my former bitter enemies dive the way I recoment today.
but mostly because I am not one to say 'told you so'. ;)
