Looks fine but that ain't sidemount. That is a standard North Florida Cave Divers rig for a stage bottle... it's gonna hang down like a keel below your chest. That may be exactly what you want. Then OK.

As Jim said, a 40-inch hose is about standard for a decompression reg rigged the N. FL way.

Good luck.

Steve, I don't know how I'll hook it up to me yet. I have D rings in a few places on my BCD. I am hoping to get some pool time so as to work it out and tweak it if need be. My main concern was make it handy. I like the idea of being able to hand it off if need be. With the clips you have the option to fasten it to an OOA diver and it stays with them so less stress or worry.I have noticed that as I get older you just don't move and bend like you used to. Being in a drysuit doesn't help either. Having to reach behind me just doesn't seem as good of an option as along my side.

Sidemounting your stage does not preclude any of the things you mentioned wanting to do... far from it. The difference is how the stages are rigged (a little different to the way you have your stagged rigged... essentially the anchor point for the tail clip is closer to the neck) and the use of a bungee loop to keep the business end of the bottle closer to the diver's side and tucked in.

I only mentioned it because you said you wanted to sidemount your bottle... which is not quite the same as slinging the bottle on your side (a la North Florida Cave Diver).

There are a BUNCH of good videos on YouTube... search Lamar Hires... he is the co-founder of Dive Rite and is one of the original gurus of sidemount diving.

drop me a PM if you wanna know more.

Are you going to Beneath the Sea?

Steve,
Thanks for your input and the name. I will surely look up Lamar on youtube. As far as BTS, I am currently bidding for a project in North Carolina that week. I have not however heard anything yet so you never know. Again thanks for the comments and I look forward to meeting you someday.

Tony: if you can make it, look me up and I can show you an alternative to the method you are using that will help you stow the bottle very neatly... you will be the envy of your friends, mate! LOL

Seriously, take a look on YouTube and PM me with any questions... I have to get off my arse and shot some pictures... who knows, you may be the catalyst I need to get moving!

In any event, dive safe

Steve, Gotta say the Lamar vids on Youtube are great! Watched about an hours worth so far. I especially like the do it your own way to suit the application attitude. Not once did I hear, "your gonna die if you do it different than me". His insight and reasoning to the ways presented are very informative. I look forward to your " info vids" . Seems I owe you another thanks, Tony
