First it is not always the case that if the valve is a 300 DIN that is a HP 3500 cylinder. I have 300 DIN valves on my LP85 which are full at 2640psi. What can be said is that a true 3500psi HP cylinder will have a 300 DIN value. Further, the valve will be 7/8" UNF thread.

As for why the true HP cylinders often sell for less is that 1) finding 7/8" UNF valves while not impossible can be hard. The newer 3442 HP utilize 3/4" valves which are the defacto standard 2) Many of the cylinders were made PST and had a exemption for their production. PST is no longer around and the exemption has expired which leads to hydro issues. 3) When re-qualifying, these cylinders should have a round out procedure done. It is not always case and folks have had issues with them being rejected. 4) and finally they are older.

You'll build powerful muscles hauling that one around. Have fun with it.
