Hi all

My wife and I are visiting Bali in October and looking to do a short liveaboard. I'm Rescue and my wife is OW - she would also like to do her AOW on the trip, preferably on the liveaboard. For me, nitrox would be a bonus.

We're budget travellers so price is more important than luxury comfort. Can you make any recommendations?

TIA :)

Dave

Dave,

Komodo (about an hour flight or so to Labuan Bajo) has 3-4 day liveaboard options where you hop on and hop off. You can do a half week. There can be very strong currents so it may or may not be the best option depending on your wife’s experience in dive count or comfort with current.

Thanks both. Our timescales are really tight so with no-fly time etc Komodo isn't an option, also the currents won't be good for my wife at this point in her development (I'm not a fan of kicking hard either - but love drifting). So as it seems there aren't any liveaboard options out of Bali, we're now looking at land-based options. There does seem to be a huge range of dive outfits - any recommendations welcome. Maybe some sort of all-in option (inc. accommodation) might suit us, less for us to arrange ;)

Check out Geko Divers; it came highly recommended to me when I was looking at Bali diving.

If diving in South East Asia, by all means save on accommodations. However, please don't go for budget when it comes to diving. You get what you pay for.
