hey guys wanted to find out if anybody shore dives in lauderdale area. I'll be flying in on the 25th of Feb and want to get some local dives in. If not what are some local operators you recommend for a short boat trip, thanks.

We've got some of the best beach diving that you'll find any where! Best around Commercial Blvd in Lauderdale By The Sea but some great diving down in Hollywood, too. Just depends on where you're staying while you are down here. I'm sure some of the Conchs will be up for a dive next Saturday, conditions permitting.

HEY EVERYBODY!!! PARTY AT MARVEL'S HOUSE!!!!

Unlimited shorediving and free room at the Chateau De la Marvelious.

Spacious rooms that sleep 15 to 20 people depending on how you stack them.

Plenty of sugary snacks from the "Sugar Queen" (translated from the actual title).

*Fish ID class to be held by Dr. Tasty food of the fishes.
*How to strap yer tank on by our resident instructor Ms. Floaty Tank.
*What's better the art or the canvas by tattoed diver girley.
*How to spend $10k on gear and still stink at BC by Diver Kicks up Silt (some guy at Aquazoo not a SB'r
*How to win friends and influence people by Fins in Mouth (aka yours truly).

Woo Hoo everyone show up completly unannounced and at random times to Marvel's this weekend for a dive.

Since I am working I thought I'd give someone grief this weekend.

PS- Marvel you are welcome sweetie.

PSS- Someone save me a brownie and a jalapeno!

Hmmm, and just what constitutes conditions NOT permitting? Andrea and I are on our way there March 9th... targeting anywhere from Key Largo to Lauderdale.

Here's the info you need:

http://www.fillexpress.com/divesites.shtml (Datura Avenue)
http://www.fillexpress.com/boats.shtml (many, many to choose from, or click here)
http://www.broward.org/bri00502.htm (artifical reefs with lat/lon coordinates)

I'm jealous, I don't think I can get there until April at the earliest... :(

Hey Dr Bill. My wife and I visit the Lauderdale area regularly (originally from Fl) and love to shore dive in a cute little town called Lauderdale by the Sea, right by Ft. Lauderdale. Easy, sandy beach entrance with the first reef line just over 50 yards from the beach. Here ya go...http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/USA_/Florida_/Lauderdale/index.htm

I am known as "Jason NYC" on this site. Have fun!

As far as conditions, my shorediving rewiew addresses that a little but compared to Cally shore dives, Lauderdale by the Sea is cake. If the surf is more than 2-3 feet a hurricane may be near or possibly a very large storm. Now, if the wind is blowing into the beach, viz may be poor, like 5 feet. Generally, everytime I have been, we have had little to no current, almost zero surf, a tiny bit of surge, and about 15-30 feet of viz. Viz improves as you go deeper to about 20 feet or so. Think a shallow Vet's Park without the surf and maybe more viz and ofcourse lots of tropicals and coral too. Very plentiful reef although it is beat up a little. Honeycombe (sp?) type coral. Just some thoughts that I hope help.

Well, if you guys are interested in diving LBTS next weekend (or any other weekend), post or PM me. If you look at my location you'll see why....
