Shore diving, flat sandy bottom?

Like Rae and Bill said..... LBTS won't get you quite deep enough, but if you swim out on Pompano, you can get close to thirty feet on the ocean side (outside) of the first reef in places. But most of it is more like 25 feet and it is a bit a swim but doable. LBTS is less of a swim but is a bit shallower. Dives at both locations get scheduled by Gold Coast frequently: maybe you can join a group dive on their Meetup.com site and once you have the lay of the land, so to say, go out on your own to test your gear.
 
St. Andrews park might be what you are looking for. Decent vis and not to bad of a current if you catch the tide right. 50 foot deep (maybe deeper but that's as far as I have gone there). Beach is 50 yards away, maybe a bit further.
