I still would like to know what the viz is like this time of year as I plan on going up in a few weeks [maybe in the rain the following weekend.] My dive club [UDNH] went there last August on a gorgeous day and the viz was gross - 5-8' max. It was a great dive though - don't get me wrong. That's NE diving and we deal with it. So is it any better in the winter or is that just the way it is around the lighthouse???

Ships cove is highly unpredictable. With it's exposure and proximity to the harbor/river mouth it can collect some pretty ugly water. When it's nice though it's an especially nice dive. My favorite side is down the left and around the bend. Often the initially awful visibility improves as you exit the actual cove.

We dove there on 2/21 and it was great. There had been no major rain or seas in a spell. There are probably still effects of last weekend to deal with now. The seas only died down yesterday.

We're taking a chance on 2 lights tomorrow.

I'm doing Nubble tomorrow [Sat] but the weather is supposed to be crappy the weekend after. Maybe I'll come up and do the Cove. Is anyone interested in a little adverse diving conditions???
