I am a big Sherwood fan and I'm want to like the SR 1, but have some reservations over the freeflow problems people are having. I understand the concerns are real, however are there any satisfied SR 1 users?

I'm also looking at the Zeagle Flathead 7.

Any preferences or feedback on these two?

I suppose to benefit from y'alls feedback, I should say I dive mid-atlantic east coast, quarrys and tropical vacations.

You've said it yourself, you have 'reservations' and know the concerns are real. Then why not go with a proven system - Zeagle wins. I went through the same research you're doing now and the Zeagle product won hands down. The U.S. Navy has tested and passed Zeagle Regs... the SR1..nope

I had the same concerns - my top choice for a while was the SR1 and second was the Flathead. I went with Aqualung Legend LX Supreme. I wasn't comfortable with the Zeagle worldwide service thing - but I now see that it was probably worrying over nothing. I do not regret my choice (yet), but from the stories I've read about the SR1 problems (justified or not) - I personally (just being cautious) would have chosen the Zeagle had the Legend not popped onto my radar screen.

Note that I have not used any of these three mentioned yet - just got my Legend Monday.

Zeagle Flathead VI: Bulletproof
Zeagle Flathead 7: By all reports, same as above.
Sherwood SR1's ancestors: Are the definition of "Bulletproof".
Sherwood SR1: Is having a very "troubled childhood".

Whenever I reply to one of these "which reg should I get" threads, I'll typically say "whichever reg makes your heart go pitter patter".

In this case, I'm concerned with the VOLUMES of problem-reports on this board about the SR1. I'd hesitate to buy one, until it is clear that all of the "teething problems" have been sorted out once and for all.

Best wishes.

Get the Zeagle, you will very happy with the performance. I have them and love them, they breath as good at 120 ft as they do at 20 ft. No free flow issues either. ther warranty is world wide as long as you purchase it from an authorized dealer.

I too was a big fan of Sherwood for their bombproof quality and considered going with the SR 1, but after doing some research, found that the SR 1 was anything but bombproof.

I ended up going with the FH7 and could not be happier. Their quality is great and their customer service is out of this world. They have a very active presence on this board and if you ask a question, you'll get an answer within hours.

Alright....alright...I'll get the FH7 :D

I appreciate the feedback everyone. Y'all made some very good points.
